Substantive Information

•  Does the title accurately reflect story contents?

•  Does the story content accurately reflect the numbers reported?

•  Does the story include quotes from the principle investigator?

•  Does the story include quotes from other informed sources?

Statistical Information

•  Are frequencies included in the story?

•  Are crosstabulations provided (breakdowns by demographic groups)?

•  Are higher level statistics reported in the story?

Methodological Information

•  Is the margin of error included?

•  Is the confidence level included?

•  Is the number of people surveyed included?

•  Is the identification of universal population included?

•  Is the name of survey sponsor/funding source included?

•  Is the name of the fielding agency included?

•  Are the survey dates included?
